ANNOUNCEMENT FOR TWO POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH GRANTS
Two two-year post-doctoral grants for research activity at the
Department of Physics of the University of Trento are available.
These grants will carry a yearly tax-free remuneration of 30 million It.
Lire (15.500 Euro).
The grants will be awarded for research in:
A:
"ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERACTIONS WITH LIGHT NUCLEI"
Deadline March 15, 2000

"RECENT SUPERSTRING MODELS AND APPLICATIONS TO BLACK HOLE PHYSICS"
Deadline March 1, 2000
Applicants must satisfy the following requirements to be eligible for the
grants:
Possession of a Ph.D. degree awarded by an Italian or recognized
foreign university.
Applicants who have completed the Ph.D. thesis but have not yet
been awarded the degree are also eligible. However, post-doctoral research
activity cannot commence until documentation is provided that the Ph.D.
has been awarded.
Applicants must not be greater than 40 years old as of March 1, 2000.
The applications must be addressed to the Rector of the University of
Trento and sent by registered mail to:

The applicants have to indicate for which research grant they are applying
(A or B) and must accurately and clearly provide the following information:
1. Name and family name;
2. Date and place of birth; permanent address (with postal code),
temporary address and telephone number at the time of the application;
3. Nationality;
4. A statement that he/she has not received in the past any other
postdoctoral research grant by an Italian University and will not have another
job or fellowship during the two years at the University of Trento.
The following has to be enclosed to the application:
1. Documentation that the Ph.D. has been awarded or is about to be
awarded;
2. A list of publications and other documents considered relevant;
3. Curriculum vitae;
4. Two letters of reference from university professors familiar with the
applicant's work.
Winners will be notified by means of a written communication after which
they must submit within 15 days their acceptance or rejection of the grant.
These post-doctoral research grants normally have a two-year duration.
However, the recipients progress will be reviewed
after the first 12 months to determine if the grant can be continued for
another year.
The grants will be given in quarterly installments beginning with the
moment of allocation of the grant.
Grant holders may, if authorized, travel on Department funds to attend
conferences.
