Dear ECT* Associate,

Could you post the announcement on ECT* fellowships (see attached file) at
your institute. Also, the Centre would appreciate receiving applications
for either senior or junior fellowships. Could you specifically bring the
availability of ECT* fellowships to the attention of your junior
collaborators.

Thank you.

Rudi Malfliet
Director ECT*
(malfliet AT ect.it)

ECT* FELLOWSHIPS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ECT*, The European Centre for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and
Related
Areas has new opportunities for active nuclear physicists to be appointed as
ECT* Fellows.
The Fellowships are aimed at junior nuclear physicists at the post-doctoral
level (and in exceptional cases to Phd-students) and senior nuclear physicists
who have a permanent appointment at a university or research institute.
Experimental nuclear physicists with a special interest in the ongoing
activities of the Centre are also invited to apply.

An ECT* Fellowship will consist of an appointment of 6 weeks at the centre, to
be arranged within a year after the initial go-ahead at the fellow's own
choice.
Travel and subsistence costs will be fully covered. Senior Fellows are allowed
to split their period of 6 weeks into 2 periods of 3 weeks to be arranged
within 2 years after the initial go-ahead.

The centre aims at appointing 24 Junior and 12 Senior Fellowships a year,
depending on availability of funds.

Special funds are available for ECT* Fellows to organise short collaboration
meetings during their stay at the centre on topical subjects of their
interest.
These 3-4 days collaboration meetings may have up to 10 participants. For
these
collaboration meetings the centre's standard rules for selection and financing
workshops apply.

Candidates for ECT* fellowships can send an application at any time. Each
application should contain a CV, list of publications and for the Junior
Fellowships two letters of recommendation. They should be send to the Director
of ECT*, Prof. R. Malfliet.

Selections will be made by the Board of Directors in March, July and November
of each year.

The ECT* fellowship program will start January 1, 2000.

The programme is partly supported by the European Commission (Improving Human
Potential; Transnational Access to Major Research Infrastructures HPRI - 1999
-
0025) and funding agencies of EU Member and Associated States.
ECT* is sponsored by the "Istituto Trentino di Cultura" in collaboration with
the "Assessorato alla Cultura" (Provincia Autonoma di Trento).
